Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Bowling Green, Kentucky- Logan Driscoll was perfect at the plate but the Bowling Green Bootleggers (32-21) fell 7-3 to the Hickory Crawdads (32-22), for their second straight loss on Thursday at Bowling Green Ballpark. BG and Hickory resume their series on Friday at 6:35 PM CT.
Hickory got on the board first with an RBI single in the top of the opening frame that made it 1-0. Bowling Green tied it up in the fourth inning, which began with a leadoff single by Osleivis Basabe. Hickory's starter, Ben Anderson, walked the bases loaded, and a sacrifice fly from Driscoll scored Basabe from third to tie the game at one. The Crawdads added four runs on four hits as they batted around in the sixth to grab the lead back at 5-1.
The Bootleggers struck back in the eighth, putting the first three runners on base beginning with a walk to Diego Infante. Alexander Ovalles doubled to left and Driscoll singled, scoring Infante. An errant throw went past first base in an attempt to throw out Driscoll on the play, allowing Ovalles to score from third to make the score 5-3 and sending Driscoll to second. Hickory quickly curbed the momentum with a two-out RBI single in the ninth to bring the lead back to four at 7-3, and that's where the score would stay.
Mason Montgomery went 5.0 innings for the Bootleggers, allowing one run on three hits with a walk and six strikeouts in a no-decision. Sean Mullen threw 0.2 innings, allowing four runs on four hits with two walks and a strikeout. Graeme Stinson struck out five in 2.1 innings of work, allowing just one hit. Audry Lugo allowed two runs on two hits with two walks in 1.0 inning.
