August 13, 2009 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
Atlanta Dream News Release
Atlanta, August 13, 2009-The Atlanta Dream will host its second annual "Dream Pink" Breast Health Awareness game on Saturday, August 15. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm at Philips Arena as the Dream take on Sue Bird and the Seattle Storm. The first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive awareness pink pom poms courtesy of DeKalb Medical.
Fans in attendance can stop by the Dream's silent auction table on the concourse to bid on memorabilia, including pink autographed shoes from Ivory Latta and Lisa Leslie, a pink WNBA basketball signed by the Dream team, and pink game-worn Dream jerseys. The silent auction opens at 6 pm and will close at the end of the first half. Immediately following the game there will be a live auction. Fans can bid on exclusive items, including: a basketball signed by coaching legends (Pat Summitt and Geno Auriemma and the late Kay Yow); a pink basketball shoe signed by Summitt and Dream forward Chamique Holdsclaw; and autographed pink game-worn jerseys from Chamique Holdsclaw, Ivory Latta and Angel McCoughtry. Proceeds benefit the Kay Yow Foundation and the DeKalb Medical Foundation.
The Dream will also honor the twenty women selected for the team's 2009 "Women of Inspiration" award with a pre-game mixer and on-court recognition during halftime. Each year, the Dream honors women from the Atlanta community who have been nominated by their peers for their positive impact on the community, family and friends. The award was designed to recognize women who donate countless time, money, and heart to make a better life for those around them (scroll down to see list of 2009 honorees).
