Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced on Saturday that center Nick Drazenovic has been recalled by their NHL affiliate, the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Drazenovic, assigned to Springfield by Columbus on Wednesday, had an assist in the club's 5-2 win over Bridgeport on Friday and is second on the Falcons and tied for fifth in the AHL with 46 points (16g-30a), equaling a career high. The sixth-year pro is on a six-game AHL point streak dating back to Jan. 26 (3g-6a). Drazenovic played in two games with the Blue Jackets during his recent NHL stint after being recalled for the first time this season on Feb. 13 and was scoreless with a -1 rating. He notched 41 points (13g-28a) and was +1 in 41 games with the Falcons in 2011-2012, his first season with the club.
A native of Prince George, British Columbia, Drazenovic skated with the Peoria Rivermen, St. Louis' primary developmental affiliate, during the first-four seasons of his career from 2007 to 2011. In 366 AHL games between Springfield and Peoria, Drazenovic has 99 goals and 148 assists for 247 points. He has not posted a point in five-career NHL contests with Columbus and St. Louis. Drazenovic, 26, was selected by the Blues in the sixth round (171st overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
The Northeast Division-leading Falcons are in Syracuse tonight to take on the Crunch at 7:30 p.m. Springfield closes out the weekend on Sunday in Worcester against the Sharks at 3:00 p.m.
