Syracuse, NY- Cedrick Desjardins and the Syracuse Crunch shut out the Springfield Falcons 3-0 tonight at the War Memorial Arena.
Desjardins stopped all 26 shots he faced in his Crunch home debut to lead the Crunch to their season-high sixth consecutive victory. Tonight's win brings the club's overall record to 32-14-2-4 and record at the War Memorial to 12-8-2-2. The Crunch sit at first place in the Eastern Conference, now three points ahead of the second place Falcons.
After two scoreless periods defenseman Mark Barberio put the Crunch on the board with 15:23 to play in the final frame. Barberio carried the puck into the Falcons zone and snuck the puck on a tight angle past Falcons netminder Allen York.
PC Labrie doubled the Crunch lead at the 12:35 mark of the third period. Labrie skated with the puck from the far boards to behind the Falcons net to score on a wrap-around shot.
Forward JT Brown, playing in his first game since being injured on Dec. 28, added an empty net goal with 27 seconds to play.
Crunchables: The Crunch are 6-1-0-2 when tied going into the third period...JP Cote recorded to assists tonight for his first multi-point game of the season...This is the seventh time the Crunch have shut out an opponent this season.
