June 23, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
New York Dragons News Release
(June 23, 2008) - New York Dragons WR Jason Willis is out for the remainder of the season after suffering a dislocated left ankle in the third quarter of the Dragons 59-30 loss to Philadelphia.
Willis had recorded eight receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown on Sunday before leaving the game.
This season, Willis led the Dragons in receiving yards with 1,544 and added 30 touchdowns. Willis also recorded 135 receptions on the season, which puts him at a tie for third place in the league in that category. He also set a new Dragons franchise record with that number, overtaking fellow WR Kevin Swayne's previous record of 131 receptions in 2001.
In just his second AFL season, Willis settled in as one of the league's best receivers and a key target for Dragons QB Aaron Garcia.
The Dragons will travel to Dallas to take on the Desperados in the first round of the playoffs this Friday, June 27th at 7:30pm. It will be the third meeting this season between the two teams. Dallas won the two previous games by two points; 33-31 in Week 5 and 51-49 in Week 16.
