Dayton Dragons News Release
Wednesday, April 9, 2014, Game # 6
Dozer Park, Peoria, Ill., 7:30 p.m.
Radio: WONE-AM 980
Dayton Dragons (2-3) at Peoria Chiefs (3-2)
RH Nick Travieso (0-0, 3.00) vs. RH Arturo Reyes (1-0, 9.00)
Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Peoria Chiefs (affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals) in the second game of a three-game series and game two of a six-game road trip for Dayton.
Last Game: Peoria 1, Dayton 0. Ronald Castillo drove in the only run of the game with a two-out bloop single to center field in the sixth inning. Dayton starting pitcher Junior Morillo was involved in an extreme baseball rarity. He left the game with the score 0-0 and the bases empty, but was charged with the loss. Morillo left with a 3-2 count after suffering an elbow injury and when the batter walked against Morillo's replacement, Daniel Wright, the base on balls was charged to Morillo. When the runner scored, the run was also charged to Morillo, and it was the only run of the game.
Today's Dragons Starting Pitcher: Nick Travieso makes his second start of the year for the Dragons tonight. Travieso was the Reds #1 draft pick in 2012 (14th overall selection) out of Archbishop McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches, Florida (near Ft. Lauderdale), where he helped the school to its third straight Florida 6A state championship as a senior in 2012.
Individual Notes
* Tanner Rahier has hit in four straight games since going hitless in the season opener Thursday.
Team Notes
