Dragons Announce Roster Changes

Dayton, Ohio-The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster moves today:

Infielder James Ewing has been sent to Dayton from Bakersfield (California League).

Infielder Brandon Dailey has been assigned to the Billings roster (Pioneer League).

A new roster is attached.

Ewing was on the Dragons opening day roster and appeared in one game with the club, going 3 for 5 (.600). He was promoted to Bakersfield and later promoted again to Double-A Pensacola. With Bakersfield this season, Ewing has appeared in 21 games, batting .206 with no home runs and 13 runs batted in. With Pensacola, he appeared in five games and went 0 for 6.

Ewing was originally signed by the New York Mets as a 12th round draft pick in 2009 out of Southern Mississippi. He played just five games in 2009 before retiring, and did not play in 2010 or 2011. He was signed as a free agent prior to spring training this year by the Reds.

Ewing began his college career at the University of Arkansas in 2006 and was selected as freshman All-American, batting .366 in 34 games. He transferred to USM for the '07 season, joining his twin brother on the team. He hit .359 as a junior in '08 and .308 as senior. He participated in the College World Series in '09. He was a first team All-Conference USA as a junior in '08 and named to the All-Conference Tournament Team in '09. Ewing was an Academic All-Conference selection in 2008 and Academic All-American in '09. He was an honor roll student in high school, earning awards in math, physics, and chemistry.

Dailey has appeared in 26 games with the Dragons this season, batting .191 with one home run and seven RBI.
