
Dozen Does Duty For Dillas

AMARILLO, TX - Amarillo Dillas starter Taylor Allen allowed only five hits and two runs while Dillas batters pounded out 20 hits in a 12-2 victory over the San Angelo Colts to avoid a three-game sweep on Sunday night at the Amarillo National Dilla Villa in front of 2,387 fans.
Allen (9-5) went seven innings walked only three and struck out five as he matched his 2006 win totals. Colts starter Caleb Rodgers (0-1) got the loss in an out past five innings as he gave up 14 hits and eight runs. Gary Schneidmiller and Jonathan Reynoso both went 4-5, each scored a run, Reynoso had one RBI while Schneidmiller had three in the effort.
The Dillas took a big lead in the opening inning. Reynoso singled, Justin Wenger singled, Carlos Figueroa singled to score Reynoso, Schneidmiller doubled to score both runners, Brett Donahoo singled to score Schneidmiller while Jordan Ramos doubled to score Donahoo for a 5-0 first inning lead.
In the sixth inning, Josh Ashton doubled home Ramos, Figueroa singled home Ashton while Schneidmiller singled home Wenger to move the Dillas up 8-0.
After San Angelo scored twice in the seventh inning, Reynoso singled home Ramos while Ashton scored on a Wenger groundout in the home half of the seventh. Donahoo added on a two-run homer in the eighth to move Amarillo up by ten.
Josh Chitwood came out for the ninth inning and finished off the Colts to give Amarillo a 12-2 win to avoid the three-game sweep.
With the win, the Dillas improve to 14-12 on the second-half of the season and 40-36 overall. Monday, the Dillas will take on the first-half champion Rio Grande Valley White Wings for the opening game of a four-game series at 7:05 pm with Dillas Pre-Game set to begin at 6:50 pm on 1010 AM The Canyon and online via AudioSportsOnline.com. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
