The Down East Wood Ducks wrap up the first six games of their 12-game road trip, tonight at 7:05 p.m. against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. RHP Mason Englert (4-1, 3.13) gets the ball for the Wood Ducks and LHP Didier Vargas (2-2, 5.40) will start for the Pelicans.

STRONG PITCHING HELPS WOOD DUCKS BOUNCE BACK: After struggling the past two games, the Down East Wood Ducks got back in the win column with a 4-2 win over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Saturday night. The bullpen helped secure the win as they only allowed one base runner over the final 2 2/3 innings.

ROAD WARRIORS: Down East seems more comfortable playing on the road. Right now, the Wood Ducks are a league-best 20-8 on the road this season. This season, the Woodies have not lost a road series and are 4-0 with one six-game sweep.

SWIPER KEEP SWIPING!: Being fast and loose on the base paths has been the secret to their success. When the Wood Ducks steal a base, they are 26-14 on the season. Currently, the Wood Ducks tied for second in all of MiLB with 116 stolen bases on the season. Jayce Easley (28) and Luisangel Acuña (16) lead the way for the Wood Ducks as their two primary and best base stealers.

EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM: The Woodies are outscoring opponents 233 - 199 and 71 - 49 in the first two innings. Down East is 16-4 when they score first on the road, and 26-7 overall when they score first.

GETTING WARMER: After a strong finish to the month of June for the pitching staff, they've started off the month of July rather cold. Although they've played only three games in the month of July, the pitching staff currently holds a 6.12 ERA but they have tallied 22 strikeouts in 25.0 innings.

MIGHTY MASON: Mason Englert has caught fire since the start of June. After the first month of the season, Englert ended May with a 1-1 record and a 4.60 ERA. In June, he made three starts, going 3-0 with a 1.69 ERA and 22 strikeouts over 16.0 innings.
