UNCASVILLE, CT. (February 7, 2007) - The Connecticut Sun announced today it has signed veteran guard Katie Douglas to a one-year contract.
Per team policy, no terms were released.
"We're really looking forward to having Katie back," Connecticut Sun coach Mike Thibault said. "She's one of the key players on our team. Her progress has mirrored our progress the last few years. She's one of the elite players in the league."
The Sun also signed Le'Coe Willingham, a 6-0 forward who has played three seasons for Connecticut, to a training camp contract.
Douglas had a career year last season, setting franchise records for made threes (73) and scoring average (16.4 ppg.) while earning MVP honors in her first WNBA All-Star Game. Douglas led the team in scoring 14 times, set a team record with a streak of 17 straight games in double figures, and also had a career-high 62 steals.
A 27-year-old Indianapolis native who led Purdue to the National Championship in 1999, Douglas is one of just three Sun players remaining from the original Orlando Miracle roster.
