
Double Plays Wipe Out Gems Rallies, As They Fall To Kelowna 4-3

Kelowna, BC - The Gems lost the first game of the series to the Kelowna Falcons, 4-3 Tuesday night at Elks Stadium in Kelowna. Two double plays by Kelowna with the bases loaded in the eighth and ninth innings, prevented Klamath Falls from coming back in the late innings. Scott Burke (University of California Los Angeles) absorbed the loss in his second season start, falling to 0-2. Winning pitcher Nolan Savage (Western Texas College) picked up his first victory of the year, improving to 1-1.
L.J. Brewster (University of Hawaii) enjoyed his best game of the young season; going 2 for 4, with both Paul Panaccione (Grand Canyon University) and Dylan Rogers (Oregon Tech) picking up two hits each as part of ten total hits in the Gems loss. Gems fall to 6-4, losing their third straight. Kelowna improves to 2-8, winners of their last two games. Both team meet Wednesday night at Elks Stadium for game two of the series, with first pitch at 6:35pm
The next Gems home game will be Monday, June 24th as the Gems host the Cowlitz Black Bears; with the first pitch at 6:35 pm. Monday's promotion is Kids Get in Free (sponsored by Kla-Mo-Ya Casino). Each Monday night game during the 2013 Gems season will be Kids Night.
