Dorsey takes Game One, Sharks take second

(Central Islip, N.Y., June 28, 2005) - The Long Island Ducks split Tuesday's doubleheader with the Camden Riversharks in front of 6,282 fans at Citibank Park. Brian Dorsey picked up his first win of the season in a 2-1 (Box Score) victory in game one. Game two was the longest seven inning game played at Citibank Park this season at two hours and 47 minutes as Long Island fell to Camden, 8-1.

In game one, Camden got on the board first with a home run off the bat of Brad Strauss in the first inning, but the lead would not stand. Henry Rodriguez put the Flock ahead in the bottom of the frame with a two-run blast, his fifth of the season that proved to be the game's final runs. Dorsey picked up the win after tossing five innings allowing one run on four hits, walking five and striking out six. Todd Erdos came on in the seventh and picked up his league leading 14th save of the season.

In game two the set the Sharks scored two runs in the third, one in the fifth, three in the sixth and two in the seventh to earn the win. Long Island's lone run came in the third inning on a RBI single by Chris Latham that plated Juan Lorenzo. Paxton Crawford was touched for six runs (three earned) in five innings of work. He struck out three in the loss. Jeff Austin pitched a scoreless sixth and Tony Runion closed out the game with a one inning performance that yielded two runs.

Long Island will close out their series with Camden on Wednesday evening in a 7:05 p.m. contest. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive visors courtesy of Long Island University - Brentwood Campus. Justin Lamber (3-0) will take the hill against the Riversharks' Ben Simon (2-5). Duck Tales...After splitting the double dip with Camden this evening, the Ducks are now 3-7 in five doubleheaders this season. Long Island is now 3-2 in the first game of a doubleheader and 0-5 in game two... Not only was tonight's game one win Brian Dorsey's first in a Ducks uniform, but it was also his first win in five career starts... Rob Cafiero got the start at first in game two of the night, making it Cafiero's first start in 24 days. The Massapequa native also recorded his first hit of the month in the sixth inning... Jimmy Goelz's double in game two was the first of his 17 hits this season to go for extra bases... Pete Rose, Jr. did not see action in the night's second game, but that was not before Petey extended his streak of home games reaching base to 22 by going 1-for-2 with a walk in game one...Tonight's crowd of 6,282, the twentieth sellout of the season, raises the total to 2,374,002 fans who have enjoyed baseball at Citibank Park since April of 2000.
