Montgomery Biscuits News Release
Father's day is Sunday, June 8, and we recommend something fresh out of the oven from the Biscuit Basket to make you look like a hero to dear ole' Dad. Consider one of our dozens of golf shirts or hats, along with a cap to top it off - It beats the dickens out of that tie that you gave him last year and this unique gift is sure to make him smile.
To get Dad a great gift in time for Father's Day, visit the store located at Union Station this week. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on Sunday from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
(Of course it's simple to shop on-line 24 hours a day, but Dad's gift won't get to him before the big day. Biscuits wear will be worth the wait, and we'll ship directly to dad if you tell us when you place your order.)
Montgomery's Biscuits Are On Fire!
Since the announcement was made, the buzz surrounding the team's name has been heard not only in Montgomery, Alabama, but around the nation as well, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. It seems people are smiling when they talk about Montgomery these days, and it's evidenced by the flood of national media attention, the number of visitors to the team's official website, and by the volume of items flying off of the shelves at the team's official retail store, the Biscuit Basket.
Since the team's official website, biscuitsbaseball.com, went live at 9:00 PM CST, on May 23, it has received more than 1,000,000 hits. In comparison, lansinglugnuts.com, the minor league website that Sports Illustrated called "a major presence" receives an average of 10,000 hits per day. Orders for team merchandise sporting the Biscuits name and logo have been received from across the country. In the six short days that merchandise has been for sale on-line, orders have come in from as far away as California and Connecticut, and from Canada to the UK. People across the country will be showing team support by wearing Montgomery, Alabama's Biscuits baseball merchandise, although geographically they won't likely get to a Biscuits game any time soon.
Sales of Biscuits merchandise has not been limited to the Internet. The team's official retailer, the Biscuit Basket, has been packed with customers since it debuted on Friday evening during Jubilee City Fest. From open-to-close the Biscuit Basket, located inside Union Station, has been a destination for residents of the Montgomery area as they celebrate their new team by taking home loads of hats, T-shirts and other Biscuits wear.
Although it has been the talk of Montgomery's local television, radio and newspaper, media attention surrounding the team name is not limited to the greater Montgomery area. Since the team name was announced, positive stories have run in the Miami Herald, the Washington Post and the Detroit Free Press. Montgomery's Biscuits are a talk-about team name and media from around the country are getting the word out.
And to top-off attention for the steamin' hot Biscuits The Daily Buzz, WB's nationally syndicated morning program, has adopted the Montgomery Biscuits and will be covering the progress of the stadium and the team. Mitch English, one of the show's hosts lists the Montgomery Biscuits on the show's website as "Mitch's new favorite team." A story featuring the Montgomery Biscuits aired the week of June 25, on the Daily Buzz, while the show's hosts sported Biscuits wear during the program.
