CHARLESTON, SC - Chris Dominguez's two-run homer in the top of the ninth powered the Augusta GreenJackets past the Charleston RiverDogs, 3-1, in front of 3,275 fans in South Atlantic League action at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park on Sunday evening.

Augusta takes the finale of the set to improve to 12-12, 53-41 overall, while the RiverDogs fall to 11-13, 42-51 overall.

With the game locked in a 1-1 tie since the top of the fourth inning, Dominguez belted a 2-2 pitch from Charleston reliever Ronny Marte (2-3) barley over the wall in left-centerfield. The former Louisville Cardinal's blast -- his team-leading 14th of the season -- brought Nick Liles home from second to giving the GreenJackets a 3-1 lead going into the final frame.

All-Star reliever Jose Casilla allowed a one-out single to Rob Lyerly, but got the final two outs to notch his seventh save of the year.

Wilmin Rodriguez (2-2) hummed 3.0 scoreless frames to pick up the victory, after losing game one on Lyerly ninth-inning walkoff home run.

Charleston wasted little time lighting up the board, opening up the bottom of the first with back-to-back singles by Slade Heathcott and J.R. Murphy. Neil Medchill's RBI groundout plated Heathcott from third, giving Charleston a 1-0 lead going into the second.

Sean Black retired the first 11 batters he faced for the RiverDogs before Chris Dominguez's single off the scoreboard in left field with two out in the top of the fourth. Luke Anders knotted the game up at 1-1 with his fourth triple of the year down the right field line to score Dominguez.

Black took the no-decision, as the former Seton Hall Pirate gave up just three hits and one earned run, while sinking five batters in 7.0 full innings of work.

The 1-1 stalwart held until the top of the ninth when Chris Dominguez's long ball pushed the GreenJackets to victory.

Augusta starter Chris Heston pitched 5.0 innings in his no-decision, giving up one run on seven hits with a walk and five strikeouts.

Murphy and Kyle Higashioka each had three hits for Charleston, while Lyerly added a pair to Charleston 10-hit arsenal. All 10 hits were singles.

There was a 24-minute delay in the middle of the fifth, when a patron suffered a medical emergency during an on-field promotion.

The RiverDogs head up to New Jersey to take on the Lakewood BlueClaws, the Single-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, in a four-game series. Game one of that series is set for 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, with Charleston sending right-hander Jose Ramirez (3-4, 3.51) to the hill, while Lakewood counters with right-hander Josh Zeid (5-3, 3.09).

BALLPARK FUN: The sun was shining for another Charleston County Parks & Recreation Commission Family Sunday at Riley Park. Fans got to the park early to enjoy family catch on the field prior to the game. The RiverDogs players even got in on the action, with pitcher Ryan Acosta reading to all the kids in attendance. Following the thrilling contest, fans again got to take their "Be Your Own Fan" experiences beyond the stands when they lined the field for autographs from the all the RiverDogs players.
