Saskatchewan Roughriders News Release
Saskatchewan Roughrider General Manager Roy Shivers announced today that wide receiver Matt Dominguez has re-signed with the football club. The deal is for two years plus an option.
Dominguez is entering his third season with the Riders. The 26-year old spent the first part of the 2004 season under contract with the NFL's New York Jets. In only six regular season games with the Riders this past season, he picked up 28 receptions for 331 yards, and three touchdowns. He was also named the CFL's Offensive Player-of-the-Week in the final regular season game of the year. Dominguez also stepped up in the playoffs, recording 11 catches for 143 yards in two games.
In his first season with the Green and White, Dominguez led the Rider receiving corps with 75 receptions for 1,071 yards and three touchdowns. He also led the team in the playoffs with 10 catches for 175 yards and two touchdowns.
"Securing one of the CFL's elite receivers is always great news," stated General Manager Roy Shivers. "With his combination of size and speed, Matt is able to dominate a game and is a threat every time he touches the ball."
"My family and I are very excited that I can continue my playing career with the Roughriders," stated Dominguez. "I look forward to helping our team bring the Grey Cup back to Saskatchewan."
