Chicago Dogs News Release

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- David Olmedo-Barrera hit the go-ahead RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning to spark the Chicago Dogs to a 5-1 come-from-behind victory over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Friday night.

Down 1-0 with two outs in the eighth, the Dogs exploded for five runs on five hits to steal the lead.

It was a pitcher's duel at Impact Field for the majority of the game with both starters throwing gems. D.J. Snelten was spectacular for Chicago, allowing just one earned run on six hits with one walk and a season-high nine strikeouts over seven innings.

Fargo-Moorhead struck for its lone run in the top of the second, taking a 1-0 lead on a Daniel Comstock sacrifice fly.

Controversy ensued in the bottom of the fifth inning as Kelly Dugan appeared to hit a go-ahead two-run homer around the left field foul pole. After the umpires reconvened, however, the play was ultimately ruled a foul ball.

The score remained 1-0 into the eighth inning. Casey Crosby entered the game and hurled three big strikeouts to keep it a one-run game.

With two outs in the bottom of the frame, Gustavo Pierre tripled to bring up Tony Rosselli. On an 0-2 count, Rosselli ripped an opposite-field single to score Pierre and tie the game at one.

After Rey Gonzalez was hit by a pitch, Olmedo-Barrera delivered the go-ahead RBI double as the ball bounced over the head of RedHawks first baseman Correlle Prime. Edwin Arroyo then delivered a two-run single to extend the lead to 4-1. Trey Vavra kept the rally going with an RBI double to score Arroyo and complete the five-spot.

Kyle Halbohn, making his first appearance since August 1, closed out the ninth to secure the comeback victory.

LHP Jake Dahlberg will get the start for game two on Saturday night. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM.
