'Dogs Battle Hard against Spirit

The Niagara IceDogs took on the Saginaw Spirit tonight to kick off their two game homestand. The IceDogs were looking to come out sharp after a recent 3-0 loss to the Saginaw team.

The IceDogs started off strong with Jake Uberti getting on the board 3:32 into the first period. He received a breakout pass in the IceDogs end and finished in the opposing end with a wrist shot low blocker. AJ Cook and Isaac Enright earned their first point of the season by assisting Uberti's goal. Saginaw capitalized mid-way through the first with a powerplay marker and extended their lead to 2-1 before the conclusion of the period. Tucker Tynan turned away 17 of 19 shots that period.

IceDogs captain Akil Thomas lead the way in the second as he scored the first of his season and the game tying goal off a beautiful passing play from Jonah De Simone and Dakota Betts. The IceDogs continued putting on the pressure as Giancarlo Chanton kept the puck in at the blueline and Phil Tomasino picked it up and put a pass directly on Kyen Sopa's tape to finish it off. Saginaw tallied two quick goals with less than a minute remaining in the period to lead the IceDogs 4-3 going into the second intermission.

In the third, Tucker Tynan looked sharp in net making 21 saves. With the back end covered the IceDogs went to work and Oliver Castleman buried one in close with the assists going to Jonah De Simone and Akil Tomas. The 'Dogs pulled their goal with a minute remaining but were unable to capitalize. Saginaw Spirit take the win with the close score of 5-4.

Tomorrow night is a Goodwill Donation Game! You can drop off a bag of clothing to donate to Goodwill Niagara at any entrance of the Meridian Centre and you will receive a voucher for a $2 ticket to the IceDogs game on October 12^th against the North Bay Battalion.

Prior to the start of tomorrows game from 5 - 6:45 p.m. Tim Hortons Coffee Truck will be parked in front of the Meridian Centre box office. Complimentary beverages will be served to IceDogs Fans! Please remember that no outside food or beverages will be allowed inside of the arena.
