'Dogs Add Arms, Including Former MLBer Reed

LINCOLN - The Saltdogs added two big arms to their 2016 pitching staff, acquiring former big league RHP Evan Reed and RHP Randy Hamrick.

The hard-throwing Reed pitched for the Detroit Tigers in 2013-14, striking out 43 in 55 2/3 innings with a 4.20 ERA.

A former third round pick, Reed posted a 2.79 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 9 2/3 frames for Amarillo last season.

The 29-year old from Santa Maria, Calif. has gone 21-27 with a 3.99 ERA and 46 saves, striking out 487 batters in 517 innings over nine professional seasons at all levels.

Hamrick, a former Arizona Diamondbacks farmhand, went 6-5 with a 3.12 ERA, striking out 82 batters in just 69 1/3 innings over the last two seasons for Amarillo.

The 29-year old from Vero Beach, Fla. also racked up 18 saves in 2014-15, and 24 so far during his five-season career.

Reed was acquired from Amarillo for cash. Hamrick was signed as a free agent.
