Vero Beach Devil Rays News Release

Despite three Jupiter home runs, the Vero Beach Dodgers came back from a 3-0 deficit to beat the Hammerheads 5-4 Thursday night at Holman Stadium. Anthony Raglani's 2-RBI single in the 8th inning put the Dodgers ahead for the first time in the game and gave Beltran Perez his second win. Tony Abreu went 2-3 and scored twice for the Dodgers, who improve to 2-0 in the Second Half. The series continues Friday night at 7:00 PM.

Jupiter nearly came back on the Dodgers in the 9th. Angel Molina led off with his second solo home run of the game. After Mark Alexander struck out the next two batters, however, Juan Figueora stroked a double into right-center. Patrick Arlis then bounced a base hit past third base, but shortstop Chin-lung Hu backed up the play and threw Figueroa out at home for the final out of the game.

Molina's first homer came in the first inning off starter Chuck Tiffany. Lee Mitchell added a two-run blast in the third inning to put the Hammerheads on top 3-0. That was the final time Jupiter would score against Tiffany, who ended up going six innings and striking out eight batters.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers chipped away at Jupiter starter Paul Mildren. One run scored in the fourth on a Cory Dunlap sacrifice fly. Another came home in the fifth on an A.J. Ellis sac fly. Vero scored the tying run in the sixth when Justin Ruggiano's 2-out single brought home Hu, one out after he had doubled.

The Dodgers rewarded Perez's two scoreless relief innings by giving him the lead in the 8th. Abreu drew a leadoff walk, Dunlap singled and Ruggiano walked to load the bases with one out. Raglani then smacked a base hit to center, scoring Abreu and Dunlap to put the Dodgers ahead 5-3. Vero has now won nine straight against the Hammerheads.
