DockHounds Fall Short of Comeback

OCONOMOWOC, WI. - The Sioux Falls Canaries edged the Lake Country DockHounds in a 6-5 victory Wednesday evening.

Scoring would begin in the third inning when Kona Quiggle hit a solo home run. An error by third baseman Brandon Chinea would result in an unearned run scored by the Canaries. The score was 2-0, Sioux Falls.

With two outs in the fourth, Gabriel Noriega, Jake Snider, and Wilfredo Gimenez reached on singles. Noriega would then score off a wild pitch to make the score 2-1.

In the fifth inning, Jabari Henry singled to score one run with the bases loaded. Grant Valley drew a full-count walk to score the second run, and Trey Michalczewski drove in the third of the inning with a sac-fly to left field.

After the Canaries scored one run in the top of the sixth, TJ Bennett lasered a ball off the scoreboard to make the score 6-2 Canaries.

The eighth inning resulted in one score for the DockHounds when Jordan Schaffer singled.

Lake Country would rally in the ninth to make the game a lot more interesting. Lamar Briggs singled to score Gimenez. The 'Hounds would load the bases, and Daikan Yoh would be hit by a pitch to trim the lead to 6-5. With no outs and the bases loaded, Sioux Falls escaped the danger with three consecutive batters down at the plate. The final score would remain 6-5 Canaries.

The DockHounds will wrap up their homestand against the Sioux Falls Canaries Thursday, August 11th. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Broadcaster Sam Matheny will be on the call, live from Wisconsin Brewing Company Park.
