DJ Smith Named Assistant GM of the Oshawa Generals

Oshawa, Ontario - Oshawa Generals General Manager, Roger Hunt announced today that Oshawa Generals head coach DJ Smith has been named the Assistant General Manager of the Oshawa Generals Hockey Club.

DJ who has won 2 Memorial Cups (2009 and 2010) as an assistant coach with the Windsor Spitfires is coming off his second full season as the head coach of the Oshawa Generals. Smith has posted an incredible coaching record to start his young coaching career. In 2 seasons, DJ has recorded 84 wins and 42 losses. Following the outstanding year DJ and the Oshawa Generals had during the 2013/2014 season, DJ Smith was the recipient of the Matt Leyden trophy for the 2013/2014 OHL Coach of the Year.

"I am very excited to continue on with the Oshawa Generals and try to lead these young men to a championship" said DJ Smith. "I am happy to be able to return to a place where I have watched these young men develop and can continue to watch them develop into pro hockey players. I'd like to thank the President and Governor of the Oshawa Generals, Rocco Tullio for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to become an OHL coach and allow me to continue to develop these young men into elite athletes".
