Jacksonville Sharks News Release
JACKSONVILLE - Defensive lineman Keith Bowers a.k.a "Thunder" (6'2",285) signed with the Jacksonville Sharks for his fourth season of arena football and fourth season with the Sharks.
Last season, Bowers played in 15 games finishing in the top 5 in the NAL in multiple categories including 10 tackles for a loss (4th) and 7.5 sacks (T-4th). In addition, Bowers had 24.5 tackles, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and one safety. Bowers was snubbed from the All-NAL selections despite dominating in two key statistical categories.
"We are excited to have Keith back this season, stated Head Coach Siaha Burley. He is a dominating defensive lineman and we have a lot to prove this year. I expect Keith to be a big part of the defense and to finally get the recognition he deserves. Number 18 laying on quarterbacks every game is a pretty sight."
In 2017, Bowers played in five games for the Sharks where he landed 10.5 tackles, 8.5 for a loss, 8.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles. Bowers started his arena football career with the Sharks in 2016 and recorded one tackle and one forced fumble.
Bowers attended the University of Maryland for all four years. He played in 46 games, recorded 119 total tackles, five sacks, and recovered two fumbles.
Bowers is a native of West Palm Beach, FL and attended William T. Dwyer High School. In both 2009 and 2010, Bowers helped lead his team to State Championships. In his senior year, he recorded an impressive 15 sacks.
