
Dillas Stun WhiteWings in Eighth

Amarillo, TX - After the Harlingen WhiteWings (20-60) scored three runs in the top of the eighth to take a 6-4 lead, the Amarillo Dillas (48-34) scored four in the bottom of the inning to win 8-6 tonight at Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.
Down 4-3 after seven, Carl Johnson hit a one out single and stole second against Nathanael Mateo (1-1) in the eighth. With two outs, Kevin Griffin walked and Matt Lawman hit a game-tying RBI-single. David Fowler followed with a go-ahead two-run double to give the WhiteWings a 6-4 lead.
Rhett Barber, who had escaped a bases loaded nobody out jam the previous inning, started the bottom of the eighth and allowed a single to Jonathan Reynoso before walking Keith Brachold on four pitches. Brian Daly (0-6) came in looking for a six-out save. Reynoso and Brachold pulled off a double-steal and Andrew Wong hit a sacrifice fly. Daly intentionally walked Danny Bravo to set-up a double play, but Bravo stole second, causing Daly to intentionally walk A.J. Johnson to load the bases. Gary Schneidmiller followed with a go-ahead two-run single. After a Justin Wenger single reloaded the bases, Stephen Douglas hit a sacrifice fly to make it 8-6 Dillas.
Ralph Robert pitched a perfect ninth for his tenth save.
Lawman led off the game with a single against Ronald Lowe. Fowler sacrificed Lawman to second. Amadeo Zazueta singled Lawman to third. Ryan Fox followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0.
The Dillas tied the game in the second against Bryan Herrera. Schneidmiller led off with a walk and Wenger followed with a single. One out later, Josh Ashton walked to load the bases. Reynoso hit a sacrifice fly to make it 1-1.
The WhiteWings retook the lead in the top of the fourth with two outs. Johnson hit his third home run of the season. Joel Gonzalez followed by reaching on an error and scored on a RBI-triple by Griffin to make tit 3-1.
The Dillas tied it up again in the bottom of the inning. Schneidmiller led off with a walk and Wenger singled, moving Schneidmiller to third. One out later, Ashton hit a sacrifice fly. Reynoso followed with an RBI-infield single to make it 3-3.
In the seventh, Bravo and Johnson led off with walks against Bobby Darling. Schneidmiller reached on a fielder's choice error to load the bases. Darling then issue a four-pitch walk to Wenger to force in a run, making it 4-3 Dillas.
The WhiteWings get Monday off before returning to Harlingen Field for their final home stand of the series on Tuesday by playing the first of three against the San Angelo Colts at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Brock Nehls (1-2) is expected to face left-hander Alex Merricks (3-1). It will be the seventh of nine-straight home games with free admission for all.
