Los Angeles FC News Release

The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) snapped a four-game winless streak with a 2-1 win over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday night at Banc of California Stadium. Diego Rossi scored a pair of first half goals to lead LAFC to the victory, which improves its record to 2-2-2 on the season for eight points.

Rossi gave LAFC the lead in the 14th minute when he got on the end of a Corey Baird pass and beat Colorado goalkeeper William Yarbrough from close range for his second goal of the season. Nearly 20 minutes later it was 2-0 LAFC when captain Carlos Vela, who was making his first start since the season-opening win over Austin FC, split the Colorado defense with a pass that found Rossi, who fired a left-footed shot into the net for his second goal of the game and the 45th regular season goal of his MLS career.

Colorado cut the LAFC lead in half early in the second half when Michael Barrios scored for the visitors, but that would be as close as they would get on the evening as LAFC held on for the victory to improve to 2-0-1 at home on the season.

LAFC returns to action next Saturday, May 29 when it hosts New York City FC at Banc of California Stadium. That game kicks off at 2 p.m. PT and will be broadcast nationally in Spanish on UniMás.
