Inter Miami CF News Release
Inter Miami may have suffered a difficult defeat in the dying moments of the opening match of the MLS is Back Tournament, but that hasn't disheartened Diego Alonso. In fact, the Uruguayan head coach is more motivated than ever.
"I think if we want to win, we have to improve. But that doesn't mean that there weren't positives to take from the match, things that we did well that we have to reaffirm," said Alonso.
The coach takes heart in what South Florida and Inter Miami represent. He believes in the spirit of the city and the Club, and the hard work it has taken for each to reach this point.
"We defend a city that rises every day to work with the goal of being better. We defend a team that took a lot of work to be here, because everyone who participated so that Inter Miami could be in MLS got up every morning with that same goal: to be in MLS."
"With great enthusiasm we defend a team and defend a city where people get up every morning to defend their dreams day by day... The people who work at the Club - the owners, the directors - got up every day so that we could play, and so that we could be here. We are exactly the same, we are the reflection of all that work."
One thing is clear: Inter Miami will not settle until it reaches the heights it has envisioned for itself. From the players to owners and the staff, ambition drives everyone involved to be the best version of themselves.
"We wake up every day and believe we are capable of becoming a better team," said Alonso. "We wake up with that belief every day. Every time we have a game, we have a new chance to win. We're going to keep insisting until we win it. Because that's how we are and that's how we'll always be."
