Dickson Wins NLL Rookie of the Month

CALGARY- Curtis Dickson has had an impressive start to his NLL career, including earning the NLL Overall Rookie of the Month for January. Dickson it tied for the overall points lead among rookies with 15 (10g, 5a).

The 22 year old rookie was selected by the Roughnecks first round and third overall in the NLL's 2010 Entry Draft this year, and has continued to prove that he was the right pick for the Roughnecks.

This past week Dickson was awarded his first NLL award as Rookie of the Week after

notching also his first NLL career hatrick and an assist on Friday's 15-11 victory over the Rush. He followed the exact same suit on Saturday's rematch against the Rush with a hatrick and an assist for four points, which the Roughnecks went on to win 12-11 in OT.

In six games this season Dickson has averaged 2.5 points per game and picked up 12 loose balls. Calgary went 4-2 in the month of January and will now be on the road for four games, before returning to the Saddledome on March 19th.

The NLL's other monthly award is the Player of the Month, which was awarded to Toronto's Bob Watson.

The player of the month awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers and Head Coaches of the league's ten member clubs.

The Roughnecks next home game is March 19th which is proceeding at 7:30 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The game will be broadcast live at www.nll.com at 7:30 p.m.
