Calgary Roughnecks News Release
OTTAWA, ON - Five months from the opening game of the 2015 FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championship (WILC), the Canadian Lacrosse Association (CLA) and Team Canada Lacrosse announces its 37-man national training roster.
The 37 Canadian players, selected by Head Coach Eddie Comeau and his 2015 Team Canada coaching staff, will come together this summer for final selection and will look for a competitive opportunity and more training time prior to the start of the Worlds event.
The applications the CLA received for the 2015 Senior Men's Indoor National Team is a true testament to the depth of extremely talented and skilled lacrosse players there are across the country. "The coaching and scouting staff and I were extremely impressed by the quality of players in our selection pool," said Comeau. "We had tough decisions to make to narrow down this field to the current group. We will continue to watch and evaluate each candidate as we move towards our final roster of 23 players."

Each player will continue to play for their professional team and will join their Canadian summer teams in the time leading up to the final selection, the final team training camps and the start of WILC. During that time, their play and development will be under evaluation by the Team Canada staff.
Canada is unbeaten in international play with a 17-0 record in the three World Championships. Canada last faced the Haudenosaunne Nation in the 2011 World finals in Prague, Czech Republic, defeating them for the third-straight time in a WILC final 13-6.
"The growth and development of box lacrosse internationally and the contributions that Canada made with initiating the WILC makes the Canadian lacrosse community proud," commented Johnny Mouradian, CLA's National Team Director - Box, when speaking to Canada's role in the international indoor lacrosse community. The game is certainly growing internationally, Mouradian continued "the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship started with six countries in 2003, grew to eight countries in 2007 and 2011; now in 2015, there will be thirteen competing in Syracuse."
This fall The Onondaga Nation will host 13 nations from around the world as Team Canada competes for the world title September 18-27. The games will be played at three venues: the War Memorial Arena; Onondaga Nation Arena; with the bronze and gold medal games played at the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University on Sunday, September 27th. The game schedule is not currently set but it is likely Canada will open their quest for gold on the first day of competition, September 19.
Once the final schedule is set, the CLA will release the information to fans on lacrosse.ca. Fans can follow Team Canada leading up to the worlds on Twitter @CanadaLacrosse. During the Worlds, fans are encouraged to follow Team Canada live on Twitter and visit lacrosse.ca for post-game reactions and reports.
