Carolina Mudcats News Release

Zebulon, NC --- A two-run single by Brendan Harris with two outs in the ninth inning capped a two-victory day for West Tenn as the Diamond Jaxx defeated the Carolina Mudcats by 3-1 scores at Five County Stadium on Thursday night.

Steve Kent (L, 4-5) started Wednesday night's rain-suspended game, and after working two innings, returned to the mound on Thursday to allow two runs in the third inning as West Tenn (13-12) took a 3-1 lead.

Carolina would manage five hits over the final seven innings, but not score as West Tenn won the opener 3-1.

In the nightcap, Carolina went ahead 1-0 in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Josh Wilson. The Diamond Jaxx tied the game in the fourth on a single by Ray Sadler, then won the game in the ninth inning on the single by Harris against Franklyn Gracesqui (L, 0-2).

Carolina begins its final eight-game road trip of the regular season on Friday night in Jacksonville with Denny Bautista (3-0, 1.99) starting the opener at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. Game time is 7:35 PM ET.
