Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - Silvertip captain and Minnesota Wild prospect Connor Dewar earned a six point night for his second career hat trick as the Silvertips threw 41 shots on goal and went three-for-nine with the man advantage, crushing the Seattle Thunderbirds, 7-2, before 8,317 fans at A.O.T.W. Arena on Saturday night in U.S. Division action.

For the first time in franchise history, the Silvertips have recorded three hat tricks in three straight games (1/26/19 Zack Andrusiak vs. Lethbridge, 2/1/19 Bryce Kindopp vs. Seattle, 2/2/19 Dewar vs. Seattle).

The Tips also reduced their magic number to 7 points to clinch a playoff berth.

D-man Jake Christiansen recorded a four-point night (1G, 3A) while rookie forward Gage Goncalves chipped in for three assists in addition to a 22-save outing for Silvertips goaltender Dustin Wolf, the reigning CHL and WHL goaltender of the week.

UP NEXT: The Silvertips return to action on Friday, Feb. 8, at home to take on the Medicine Hat Tigers for a 7:35 p.m. puck drop (1380 AM / 95.3 FM / Tune In App / WHL Live). Tickets available at everettsilvertips.com/tickets.

Dewar put the Tips up 1-0 with 30 seconds left in the opening period. Flyers prospect Wyatte Wylie fed Dewar with a stretch pass near the Seattle bench as the captain maneuvered his way through the slot around three T-birds and connected a patiently timed snipe past Seattle goaltender Cole Schwebius. Everett defenseman Gianni Fairbrother also received an assist on the play for his 26th point of the season.

The Silvertips finished the first period with six shots on net, while Wolf stopped four-of-four

Dewar added to the Everett lead, 2-0, at 2:55 into the second where he connected a backhand shot from the front of the crease. Forward Bryce Kindopp picked up his 27th assist of the year and d-man Jake Christiansen recorded his 26th assists on the play.

Christiansen followed up his assist with a goal at 10:52, to give the Tips a 3-0 lead. Goncalves fed Zack Andrusiak along the far boards, who dished a tape-to-tape pass to Christiansen who broke into the slot and rifled a shot on the glove-side of Schwebius.

Dewar completed his hat trick at 11:45, to extend his team's lead to 4-0, where he finessed his way into the slot to wire a top-shelf shot to beat Schwebius blocker side.

Seattle forward Andrej Kukuca tucked in a wraparound goal off the skate of Wolf to cut the Tips lead to 4-1 at 17:42. T-Birds defenseman Simon Kubicek and Jake Lee recorded assists on the play.

Everett landed 19 shots on goal through the first two periods of play, as Wolf turned away 17-of-18 after two. Dewar was awarded his fourth goal of the night just 28 seconds into the third. Goncalves linked a pass to Fairbrother who hammered a shot from the point while Dewar crashed the net and a slight caught deflection.

Kindopp recorded his second point of the night with a power play goal at 11:07, for a 6-1 lead on a half-open net attempt from the left circle with assists from Christiansen and Dewar.

Wylie deposited his eighth goal of the season, and 36th point, for a 7-1 cushion on the power play with a blast from the point at 12:24 created as Christiansen and Dewar cycled the puck with the man advantage. Thunderbirds winger Keltie Jeri-Leon deflected a shot past Wolf at 15:44 off a shot from Kubicek who was fed by former Silvertip, Sean Richards.
