Devils Edged by Sound Tigers

ALBANY, NY -- In their final meeting of the season, the Albany Devils fell to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-1. Albany led after the first period but was unable to overcome three straight Bridgeport goals. The Devils move to 33-27-2-2 and the Sounds Tigers improve to 39-23-2-1.

Vojtech Mozik netted his ninth goal of the season to give the Devils the lead at 17:35 of the first period. Max Novak won the opening faceoff of a Devils' power play back to Yohann Auvitu, who fed Mozik for a slapshot that beat Bridgeport goaltender Jaroslav Halak.

Bridgeport's Bracken Kearns scored at 1:02 of the second period to tie the game at one. Ryan Pulock followed up later in the period with a goal at 11:42 to break the tie and give the Sound Tigers a 2-1 lead.

Ben Holmstrom scored a backhanded goal at 17:25 of the third period to push the lead to 3-1.

Ken Appleby stopped 19 of 22 shots between the pipes and Halak stopped 21 of 22 shots.

The Devils host the Utica Comets Friday for a 7 pm puck drop. _
