Detroit Shock announces 2007 schedule

Auburn Hills, MI - The Detroit Shock will begin its 10th season of WNBA competition as well as defense of its 2006 WNBA Championship on May 19 at The Palace Of Auburn Hills in a nationally televised WNBA Finals rematch with the Sacramento Monarchs. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. The Shock will also raise its 2006 WNBA championship banner and present players, coaches and one lucky fan with their championship rings during pre-game ceremonies.
As part of the Detroit Shock's 10th season celebration, between now and January 31, 2007, fans who purchase tickets to two 2007 Shock home games will receive a ticket to the team's opening night festivities free of charge. They will also receive a free Shock fleece blanket. To order tickets fans should contact a Shock sales representative at 248 377-0100 or log on to www.DetroitShock.com.
Other highlights of the Shock home schedule include two games featuring the biggest rivalry in the WNBA - Connecticut vs. Detroit - on Friday, June 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m.; a Sunday, July 8 meeting at 6:00 p.m. with Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury; and Sheryl Swoopes and the Houston Comets in the home finale on Tuesday, August 14 at 7:30 p.m.
In addition to the home opener, four other Shock games are slated for national television this season - Tuesday, July 10 vs. the Chicago Sky (ESPN2, 7:00 p.m.); Tuesday, July 24 at Connecticut (ESPN2, 8:00 p.m.; Tuesday, July 31 at San Antonio (ESPN2, 7:00 p.m.); and Saturday, August 11 vs. the Indiana Fever (ABC, 1:30 p.m.).
Additional Shock games will be broadcast nationally via the league's 24-hour television network, NBA TV. A complete schedule of NBA TV games, as well as Detroit's preseason and local television broadcast schedule will be released later in the year. The 2007 WNBA Playoffs are scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 23.
