GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Sunday recalled defenseman Adam Almquist from the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Almquist, 22, has appeared in 10 games with Grand Rapids this season, producing seven points (0-7 - 7), 23 shots on goal and 12 penalty minutes. Drafted by Detroit in the seventh round (210th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Almquist joined the Griffins for its 2012-13 Calder Cup-winning season, marking his first campaign in North America. The Huskvarna, Sweden, native posted 31 points (10-21 - 31) in 68 regular season games and 10 points (3-7 - 10) in 21 playoff games with the Griffins.

The 5-foot-11, 178-pound defenseman will be available to play for the Wings tomorrow, when Detroit takes on the Winnipeg Jets at 8 p.m. EDT at the MTS Centre. If Almquist makes his NHL debut on Monday, he will become the 135th Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL.

The Griffins take on the Rockford IceHogs at Van Andel Arena on Wednesday at 11 a.m. for the 13th annual matinee game. Grand Rapids closed out a two-game road trip this weekend with a 3-1 victory over the Rockford IceHogs on Sunday, taking the lead over the Midwest Division with 16 points and improving the team's overall record to 7-2-1-1.
