Coyotes Assign Gormley to Portland

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned defenseman Brandon Gormley to the Portland Pirates, the club's American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Gormley has registered five assists with four penalty minutes (PIM) in seven games with the Pirates this season. He led all Portland defensemen in scoring at the time of his recall.

The 21-year-old native of Murray River, Prince Edward Island appeared in 68 games with the Pirates in 2012-13, totaling 5-24-29 and 44 PIM, which were all AHL career highs.

Gormley was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (13th overall) in the 2010 Entry Draft.
