Destroyers visit local schools

(BUFFALO, NY)- Members of the Buffalo Destroyers are heading back to the classroom today to talk with local elementary school kids. The appearances are in conjunction with the Destroyers Academy.
OL/DL Jerry Crafts, OL/DL Silas Demary, OL/DL David Caldwell and Assistant Coach Rudy Klawiter will visit five Buffalo area schools that took part in the Destroyers Academy this past school year.
The Destroyers Academy began on November 15 and ran through April 15 where students in participating schools were challenged to read 15 books. When they read their 15 books, the student received a voucher to attend a Destroyers home game.
We feel very privileged to give back to schools that have supported us throughout the year, said Destroyers Fan Relations Specialist Jeff Surdej. The Destroyers Academy is a great program and the guys are looking forward to their visits.
Crafts and Klawiter will be at Hoover Elementary at 11:00AM. Crafts will stop by Buffalo Elementary School of Technology at 1:00 PM, then at Public School #38 at 2:00PM.
Demary will be part of activities day at both 14 Holy Helpers in West Seneca at 11:00 AM and Boston Valley in Hamburg at 12:30PM. Caldwell will join Demary at Boston Valley.
The Destroyers return to the field Sunday, June 23 as they battle the New Jersey Gladiators at 3:00 Pm at the Continental Airlines Arena. The Fleet return home Friday, June 28 to host the Arizona Rattlers at 7:30 PM at the HSBC Arena. Tickets are on sale now. Call 881-4444.
