Dallas 36, ARIZONA 33 (12,418)

PHOENIX, Ariz. (TICKER) -- JASON WELLS converted 5-of-6 field-goal attempts, including the game-winner as time expired, to help the Dallas Desperados outlast the Arizona Rattlers, 36-33.

Wells made two first-half attempts from 25 and 29 yards out, respectively, and hit a 47-yard field goal seven seconds into the fourth quarter. He gave his team a 33-20 lead on a 20-yard kick with 8:17 remaining and nailed a 34-yard attempt at the end of regulation to give his team the victory.

ANDY KELLY completed 24-of-45 attempts for 242 yards and three touchdowns and SHANNON CULVER caught a game-high 10 passes for 113 yards and a touchdown for Dallas (5-4), which recorded its third straight win.

SHERDRICK BONNER converted 20-of-35 pass attempts for 172 yards and a pair of touchdowns and CHRIS HORN made nine catches for 114 yards and a score for Arizona (6-3), which was held to its lowest point-total of the season.

June 18, 1999: Nashville's ANDY KELLY passes for 10 touchdowns against Houston, tying the league record with CLINT DOLEZEL (1997, 1999) and WHIT TAYLOR (1987).

June 19, 1987: Pittsburgh 48, Washington 46. The AFL officially kicks off its first season, a 12-week regular schedule (one game each week). The Gladiators defeat the Commandos in front of 12,117 fans at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena.

June 19, 1987: Pittsburgh scored the first points in AFL history when QB MIKE HOHENSEE tossed a 42-yard strike to WR RUSSELL HAIRSTON against the Washington Commandos.

June 19, 1992: "The Miracle Minute" – Orlando's BARRY WAGNER catches a pair of TD passes, a winning two-point conversion, recovers an on-side kick, and makes a game-saving tackle - all in the final 60 seconds -- in a 50-49 win over the Detroit Drive. The teams combined for three TDs, a pair of two-point conversions, three turnovers, a safety, seven different possessions, and a successfully recovered on-side kick.

June 19, 1993: Orlando 46, Tampa Bay 45. The ThunderDome in Tampa rocked with a league record 28,746 fans, who saw BEN BENNETT pass for a season-high 315 yards and six TDs. Tampa Bay's STEVIE THOMAS snared seven passes for 125 yards and four TDs in the losing effort.

June 20, 1987: Denver 52, Chicago 44. The Dynamite defeat the Bruisers in the league's first overtime contest.

June 20, 1997: New Jersey 91, Texas 62. The Red Dogs recorded the highest point total by one team in pro football to date with their defeat of Texas; also combining for the highest scoring game in AFL history. Prior to the Albany Firebirds' 88 points in 1996, the CFL's Montreal franchise scored 82 vs. Hamilton in 1956. The NFL record for most points is 73, set by the Chicago Bears in 1940. (In 2001, the AFL's New York Dragons set a new mark when they scored 99 points against the Carolina Cobras, 68.)

June 21, 1996: The Firebirds establish a record 52-point second-half mark, combine with the Rage for 82-point second-half and eclipse their own single game scoring record as Albany defeats Charlotte, 88-36.

June 21, 1999: Firebirds' EDDIE BROWN surpasses 600 receptions and 200 receiving TDs, becoming the second player to join the 600-200 club (BARRY WAGNER).

June 22, 1987: At 29, former Pittsburgh Gladiator QB MIKE HOHENSEE becomes the first AFL players to join the game's coaching ranks, the youngest pro football coach at the time.

June 22, 2001: In a loss to Milwaukee, the Predators set records for most turnovers in a game (9), most fumbles in a game (7, tying four other teams), and most fumbles lost in a game (6).

June 23, 2000: Avengers' TODD MARINOVICH sets a rookie record by throwing for 469 yards, the second-most in league history. He also tied a record by throwing 10 TDs. Also in that game, teammate KEVIN COBB breaks the mark for tackles in a single game with 21 stops.
