Dallas Desperados News Release
The Dallas Desperados claimed what is probably their biggest victory of the season when they knocked off the Arizona Rattlers 36-33 on national television last Sunday at America West Arena. With two of the league's more potent offenses facing off, it was the defenses that took over the game. The Desperados held the Rattlers scoreless on six of their 12 possessions while stopping two two-point conversion attempts. But it still came down to the last play of the game, when Dallas kicker Jason Wells connected on his fifth field goal of the day â from 34 yards out â as the game clock expired to give the Desperados the victory. Sunday's win tightens the Western Division standings, as Dallas moves into a tie with Los Angeles at 5-4 while Arizona is a game ahead at 6-3. San Jose heads the division â and the league â with a perfect 9-0 record.
After spending much of the first half of the season on the road (six of the first nine games), Dallas closes the season with four of its final five games at Harrah's Field at American Airlines Center. Saturday's game with the Tampa Bay Storm will mark the first of three consecutive home games for the Desperados, with San Jose coming to town on June 29 and Detroit on July 6.
The Desperados begin preparations for the Storm Tuesday morning at Texas Stadium and will continue through the week. Head Coach Joe Avezzano will host his weekly press luncheon Thursday at 12:15 p.m. in the Tejas Room at Texas Stadium. Friday's walk-thru practice will take place at Harrah's Field at American Airlines Center.
