Destroyers To Host Hunter's Game of Hope Sunday

(BUFFALO, NY)- Hunter's Game of Hope is this Sunday as the Buffalo Destroyers will host the Carolina Cobras on Sunday, February 9 at 3 p.m. at the HSBC Arena. A percentage of all ticket sales for Sunday's game will go to the Hunter's Hope Foundation.
Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly and his family will attend the game. Destroyers owner Mark Hamister will present the Kelly family with a check at halftime for the money raised for the Hunter's Hope.
Hunter's Hope and the Destroyers are continuing to solicit individuals, businesses, and companies to purchase tickets for there own use or to donate to local youth groups/organizations to achieve a goal of donating $20,000 to Hunter's Hope.
Hunter's Game of Hope begins the celebration of Hunter's Day of Hope a week early this year. On February 14th, Jim and Hunter Kelly's birthday, celebrations continue at Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park. This annual event, hosted by the Foundation, gives families an opportunity to enjoy the winter weather together while also fulfilling one of the Hunter's Hope mission goals: to remind parents how important it is to make their children a priority in their lives and to give them more time and love.
The Hunter's Hope Foundation was established in 1997 by the former Buffalo Bill and his wife, Jill, when their infant son, Hunter was diagnosed with Krabbe Leukodystrophy. Since the Foundation's inception, remarkable advances have taken place with the use of umbilical cord blood transplants. Children who are diagnosed early can be successfully treated through this procedure. Hunter's Hope is now working on initiating newborn screening for leukodystrophies nationwide. To date, the foundation has awarded approximately $3 million to Krabbe and other leukodystrophy research.
