Carolina Cobras News Release
The Carolina Cobras announced several roster moves today in preparation for this Sunday's game at Buffalo. The team signed WR/LB Ty Law and OL/DL Craig Moore, signed QB Robert Hall and OL/DL Blaine Mensch from their practice squad, placed WR/DB Tramain Jones and OL/DL Paul Mandina on injured reserve and waived OL/DL Dunstan Anderson and QB Chad DeGrenier.
Law is a five-year Arena Football League veteran who has played in Orlando (1998-2000) and Toronto (2001-02). In 55 career games, he has 166 receptions for 2,294 yards and 40 touchdowns. Defensively, he has 85.0 career tackles, five interceptions and five fumble recoveries. Three of his five interceptions came during the 2002 season with the Phantoms. During his three seasons in Orlando, the Predators won two ArenaBowl championships and lost in the ArenaBowl once.
Moore is a three-year veteran who has played for Milwaukee (2000-01) and Toronto (2002). In 31 games played, he has 42.0 tackles, 4.0 sacks, four forced fumbles, three pass breakups and three quarterback hurries.
Mensch, who played the last three seasons with the af2 Augusta Stallions, was signed to the practice squad at the conclusion of training camp. Hall, a five-year AFL veteran, joined the practice squad last week after being waived by the Las Vegas Gladiators at the end of their training camp. He was the first player in league history to have 1,000 passing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in his career.
Jones and Mandina both suffered MCL sprains in the Cobras' loss Friday at Tampa Bay. Jones injured his right MCL and will be out 2-4 weeks, Mandina injured his left MCL and will be out 4-8 weeks.
The Cobras return to the field on Sunday, February 9 at Buffalo. Carolina's home opener is slated for Friday, February 14 (Valentine's Day) versus the Detroit Fury.
