With three goals in the first period, the Saint John Sea Dogs (19-30-1-1) held the fort in the third to secure a 5-4 win over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan (15-29-5-3), handing them their twelfth straight loss.

Noah Reinhart led the Sea Dogs with a goal and two assists while Cole Burbidge and Brady Burns had a goal and an assist each and Jared Cosman and Eriks Mateiko scored one goal each.

Markas Samenas led the Titan with a pair of goals while Ben Allison and Robert Orr each had a goal and an assist and Ty Higgins had a pair of helpers.

Ventsislav Shingarov made 10 saves for the Sea Dogs before being pulled in favour of Olivier Brideau who stopped 20 of 21 shots in relief to get the win. Joshua Fleming stopped 23 in net for the Titan.

Before the game, Burns was presented a golden stick by Sea Dogs President and General Manager Trevor Georgie, his father Darren Burns, and his billet family for scoring his 109th QMJHL goal, becoming the Sea Dogs all-time franchise leader.

The Sea Dogs opened the scoring 4:21 into the first as Alex Drover stole the puck in the Titan zone, made a move around a defender only to have Fleming make a left pad save. However, he was out of position for a follow up shot from Jared Cosman, who buried the 1-0 goal in the wide open net.

Just over a minute later, Reinhart batted the puck down out of mid-air and made a centring pass to Brady Burns whose shot was denied by Fleming.

The Titan responded just before the halfway mark of the period as Samenas skated in over the blue line and floated a shot that fooled Shingarov and found the top of the net to make it 1-1.

Matthew McRae almost gave the Titan the lead off the next faceoff, finding the puck all alone in front but Shingarov got enough of the puck to keep it out.

The Sea Dogs regained the lead a little over two minutes later as Pavel Simek won a puck battle behind the Titan net and found Eriks Mateiko alone in front who put the puck past Fleming to make it 2-1.

Saint John wasn't done there as with just 2:38 left in the period Reinhart slipped a pass through two Titan defenders to Burns who tucked it past Fleming to make it 3-1 heading into first intermission.

Shots after the first were 12-8 for the Sea Dogs.

Reinhart added to the Sea Dogs lead 1:51 into the second, finishing off a couple of great passes by Nicolas Bilodeau and Burbidge to make it 4-1.

The Titan answered 2:45 later on a 5-on-3 power play as Higgins set up Samenas for a one-timer that beat Shingarov for his second goal of the game, cutting the Sea Dogs lead to 4-2.

Two minutes later, with the Titan on another man-advantage, Allison ripped a shot from the left faceoff dot past Shingarov, ending the Sea Dog goalie's night and pulling Acadie-Bathurst to within one 4-3.

Brideau came in to relieve Shingarov at 6:37 of the second period after he allowed three goals on 13 shots.

Charlie DesRoches nearly responded two minutes later as a shot from Mateiko created a goalmouth scramble and DesRoches just fanned on a loose puck in the crease.

With just under nine minutes left in the second, Allison worked his way through multiple Sea Dogs players before handing the puck off to Orr who ripped the puck past Brideau to tie the game 4-4.

Joseph Ianniello nearly regained the Sea Dogs lead with just under three and a half minutes left in the second, skating in behind the Titan defense but unable to maneuver the puck past Fleming.

Shots after the second were 26-19 for Acadie-Bathurst.

6:18 into the third, the Sea Dogs regained their lead on the powerplay with Burbidge putting a point shot past a screened Fleming to take a 5-4 lead.

Five minutes later the Titan almost tied it up again as Orr deflected a shot from Larkin, but Brideau was able to adjust and make the save.

The Sea Dogs held it down from that point to secure the 5-4 win.

Final shots were 33-28 for the Titan.
