Desperados Weatherington Named to AFL All-Rookie Team

The Arena Football League announced on Tuesday that Desperados OL/DL Colston Weatherington was named to the league's All-Rookie team. Weatherington was the only Desperados rookie to make the team.

Weatherington made an immediate impact during his inaugural indoor season, finishing eighth in the league with 5.5 sacks. He also led all Dallas linemen and finished fifth on the team with 25.5 tackles, a team-high 7.5 tackles for losses, six passes defensed, a team-high five blocked kicks, a team-high five quarterback pressures and a team-high tying two forced fumbles. He also caught three passes for 42 yards on the offensive side of the ball. He blocked four kicks in his first four AFL games, including batting down two against Philadelphia (2/15). He was named U.S. Army Ironman of the Game against Grand Rapids (3/6) after posting 2.5 tackles, half a sack and half a tackle for a loss on defense while catching a 12-yard pass and providing blocking that allowed quarterback Glen Gauntt to throw for a career-high 313 yards and eight touchdowns.
