Willis Marshall named Ironman of the Week

Denver, Colo. - Colorado Crush wide receiver/defensive back Willis Marshall has been named the Arena Football League's U.S. Army Ironman of the Week for Week 17 of the 2004 season, it was announced today.

Marshall (5-9, 197, Youngstown State), in his fourth AFL season and first with the Crush, led the Colorado Crush (11-5) on both sides of the ball during their 56-47 victory over the Chicago Rush (11-5) on Sunday.

Marshall recorded nine receptions for 98 yards and three touchdowns on offense, while adding a rushing touchdown. Marshall also returned three kicks for 71 yards on special teams. On defense, he totaled 4.0 tackles and forced a fumble.

With the victory, the Crush finished the regular season with an 11-5 mark, tied for the best record in the league.

This marks the first time that Marshall has earned an AFL weekly honor, and the third Ironman of the Week award for the Crush this season. WR/LB Kevin McKenzie was also named the AFL's Ironman of the Week following Weeks 2 and 10. Crush defensive specialist Rashad Floyd garnered Defensive Player of the Week honors for Week 8 and Defensive Player of the Month for March.

The U.S. Army Ironman of the Week honors the best player who participates on multiple sides of the ball - offense, defense or special teams - for his team.

The fifth-seeded Crush play their first ever playoff game on Sunday, June 6 at 1:00 p.m. MT at the fourth-seeded New Orleans VooDoo in the AFL Quarterfinals. The game will be televised by NBC and broadcast by AM 760 The Zone and online at www.760thezone.com/listen .
