Desert Dogs Battle, Fall to Wings in 2023 Opener

January 7, 2023 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Las Vegas Desert Dogs News Release

LAS VEGAS, NV - Rob Hellyer posted a team-high five points (2G, 3A), but the Desert Dogs couldn't hold off a hot third quarter from the Philadelphia Wings falling 14-9 Friday night at Michelob ULTRA Arena.

After a muted offensive output in the team's home opener, the Desert Dogs got back on track with eight different goal scorers in the team's first game of the New Year.

Trailing 5-2, in the second quarter, Emerson Clark, Erik Turner and Zack Greer all netted scores to pull the game even at the break. The Wings took control in the third quarter, scoring six goals including four straight to go up 11-8.

The Dogs offense stalled in the fourth, managing just one goal late.

Las Vegas will return to action on Saturday, January 14 when the Desert Dogs face the Vancouver Warriors on the road. The first-ever meeting between to the two teams will faceoff at 7:00 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on MyLVTV and the ESPN+ app.
