Desdunes up for Goal of the Week

WINDSOR, Colo. - Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC midfielder Jerry Desdunes has been nominated for the USL League One Fans' Choice Goal of the Week for Week 22. In the 2-0 win over the weekend at Greenville Triumph SC, Desdunes doubled the Hailstorm lead in the 72nd minute. It is his third goal of the year and his second in USL League One play.

After receiving a pass from Owen Damm, Desdunes was given space by the Triumph defense to dribble and bring the ball forward. Just outside the penalty box, he cut the ball back onto his right foot to set up his shot. There was nothing Greenville goalkeeper Paul Christensen could do as the ball flew into the back of the net.

The voting for the Week 22 USL League One Fans' Choice Goal of the Week is now open.

Irvin Parra is the only Hailstorm player to win a Goal of the Week honor. Parra won back in Week 5 for his goal against North Carolina FC on April 30. Other Northern Colorado players to be nominated for the award were Stefan Lukic (Week 6), Parra (Week 11), and Danny Robles (Week 14).

The Hailstorm are back in action on Saturday, September 3, when they play host to North Carolina FC at Severance High School at 7 p.m. MDT.
