Dengler, Sterling Named to USL League One Team of the Week

STATESBORO, Ga. - South Georgia Tormenta FC defender Jake Dengler and forward Kazaiah Sterling were named to USL League One's Team of the Week for Week 22 of the 2022 regular season. In his first start of the month, Sterling netted a brace to get South Georgia back to its winning ways after three consecutive defeats. Dengler's defensive presence towered over the Fresno offensive unit and helped South Georgia get its first clean sheet since July 2.

Dengler led all players with 12 clearances in Week 22 as he helped his side to a 2-0 victory over Fuego FC. Dengler also tallied eight recoveries and won six of nine duels. The center back from Baltimore added another 90 minutes, making him the only player for Tormenta FC to play every minute this season.

Sterling found his seventh and eighth goals of the season to hand Fresno its second consecutive defeat to South Georgia at Fresno State Soccer Stadium. Sterling recorded his third brace of the season in Tormenta FC's 2-0 victory.

Following Saturday's match, Tormenta FC has traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina, to take on the Charlotte Independence on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at American Legion Memorial Stadium, at 7 p.m. ET.
