Trenton Thunder News Release

(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, the Double A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that the team's Golden Retriever puppy, Derby, turns one year old today.

The Thunder also announced that Derby, the son of fan favorite Chase, will be sponsored by Arm & Hammer and their line of Dog Care Products. Derby will wear an Arm & Hammer bib during games and when making appearances in the community. He made many appearances during the 2008 season at Waterfront Park, and was an instant hit with the fans.

This upcoming season will mark Chase's fourth year as the "Official Spokesdog" for Lambert Kay, manufacturers of the "Fresh 'n Clean" line of pet care and grooming products. Arm & Hammer and Lambert Kay are both Church & Dwight companies.

Derby's father, Chase That Golden Thunder, has been entertaining fans at Waterfront Park for the past 6 seasons. During the games, Chase is the Thunder Batboy during the first inning, he also brings water to the umpires, catches Frisbees in the outfield and meets with fans both on the field and in the stands. This 8 year old golden retriever was featured last season on FOX 29 News in Philadelphia and over the years he has been featured on CNN, the YES Network, KYW-3, UPN-9, WNBC-4 and on Japanese Television. Chase's story has also been published in newspapers and magazines across the country including a mention in Sports Illustrated.

During the Thunder offseason, Chase visits schools as part of the NJEA Boomer's Book Buddies Campaign. He is the star of his own school assemblies for children in Kindergarten and First Grade called "It's Your Turn With Chase".

Derby is currently being trained to perform all of his father's "tricks" and will be seen frequently around Waterfront Park during the upcoming season. "It's not going to be easy to follow in his famous father's paw steps, but he is destined to become a fan favorite", according to Thunder Vice President of Marketing Eric Lipsman.

Derby will not be the only son of Chase on the baseball field this season. Derby's brother Ollie, will be making his debut with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in 2009 as well.

All Trenton Thunder tickets, including the 2009 Eastern League All-Star Game to be played in Trenton on July 15 go on sale on February 2 online at www.trentonthunder.com by calling 609-394-3300.
