Denver Outlaws Trade Lochte for Whitty

Denver Outlaws News Release

Denver-July 11, 2007 -The Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) announced today they have acquired defenseman Trey Whitty from the San Francisco Dragons. In exchange for the third year player, Denver sent attackman Hunter Lochte to the Dragons.

Whitty was taken in 2005 by the Boston Cannons. Last season, Whitty had 22 ground balls and added 1 assist in 12 games for the Dragons. This year, Whitty was placed on the Did Not Report' list prior to the season and has not played thus far.

"We made this trade to bolster our defense," said Outlaws General Manager and Head Coach Brian Reese. "Trey is a versatile, scrappy player that will fit in well. He can play both short stick and long stick and will be an asset on the face of the wings."

Lochte scored 14 goals and added 2 assists in 11 games last season for the Outlaws but due to limited playing time, has scored 4 goals and 2 assists in 4 games this season.

"Trading Hunter was a difficult decision," said Reese. "He will now have the chance to play on a more consistent basis in San Francisco. We wish him the best of luck in San Francisco."

The Outlaws are back in action this weekend, against the Riptide in Los Angeles this Saturday. On July 21, Denver returns home to take on the Philadelphia Barrage in a rematch of the 2006 MLL Championship game.
