CARSON, CALIFORNIA - Wednesday, July 11, 2007 - As the 11:59 p.m. trade deadline on July 10 was quickly approaching, the Los Angeles Riptide of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) acquired attackman Chazz Woodson from the Boston Cannons in exchange for midfielder Kevin Dougherty, General Manager G.W. Mix announced today.

"We have mixed emotion about this trade," said Riptide Head Coach John Tucker. "Doc has been a tremendous part of the first season and a half of our team's development. On the other hand, Chazz is an exciting player who can play an important role for us. Boston had a need at midfield and contacted us about Doc. We have a long-term need at attack. The deal they proposed seems to make sense for everyone."

In addition to the rights to Dougherty, the Riptide gave Boston a fourth-round selection in the 2008 MLL Collegiate Draft.

Considered by many to be one of the most electrifying attackmen in MLL, Woodson is fifth among the Cannons in scoring this season, averaging more than two points per game in the six games he has played, and scoring a total of 10 goals and three assists. In 2006, Woodson scored one or more goals in each of the nine games he played in for the Cannons.
