2008 Riptide Schedule Set

CARSON, CALIFORNIA - Thursday, January 17, 2008 - The Los Angeles Riptide of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) announced today their 2008 season schedule, opening on the road on May 17 against the Denver Outlaws, and at home in the Soccer Stadium at The Home Depot Center on May 25 at 7:00 p.m. against the Chicago Machine.
The Riptide's 2008 home opener marks the first time the MLL Western Conference Champions have played in the 27,000-seat state-of-the-art stadium. It will also be the first lacrosse match played in the Soccer Stadium since the 2005 "First 4" Division I Men's NCAA Lacrosse tournament featuring Notre Dame, North Carolina, Georgetown and Syracuse. The 2005 collegiate double-headers were the first-ever lacrosse matches played at The Home Depot Center, and the first-ever Division I men's lacrosse played in the state of California.
Other highlights on the Riptide 2008 MLL regular season schedule include a visit from the Long Island Lizards on Saturday, June 21, and a road trip to Rochester and defending MLL MVP John Grant Jr., whom the Riptide defeated in the 2007 NB Zip MLL Semifinal match up in Rochester on August 24.
Then on Saturday, July 26, the Riptide welcome the back-to-back MLL champion Philadelphia Barrage for their first appearance in Los Angeles since the 2006 New Balance MLL Championship Weekend.
The season will round out with a home-and-home set of games against the San Francisco Dragons, with the season finale on Saturday, August 9 against the Dragons at Orange Coast College in Orange County, California.
