Denver Cutthroats Claim CHL Weekly Awards

The Denver Cutthroats and Central Hockey League announced Vincent Arseneau and John Griggs the Oakley Award winners of the week on Monday, March 17. Forward Vincent Arseneau was named the player of the week, while fellow teammate John Griggs claimed the goaltender of the week title.

The Cutthroats played a total of five games over the course of the past seven days, during which Vincent Arseneau notched a total of eight points. Six of his eight points were goals scored, including his second hat trick of the season on Friday, March 14 against the Quad City Mallards. Arseneau currently sits with a total of 23 goals, 11 assists and 116 penalty minutes in 41 games with Denver.

John Griggs first stepped into the net for the Denver Cutthroats on Saturday, March 1 against the Rapid City Rush. During the past week, Griggs stopped 159 of 174 shots on goal. John helped his team to come out victorious through two shootouts on Saturday, March 15 and Sunday, March 16. His record now stands 9-0-0 with a .927 save percentage.

Denver Cutthroats Hit the Road

The Denver Cutthroats were victorious during the team's final regular season home series, sweeping the Quad City Mallards on Friday and Saturday and defeating the Allen Americans in a seven-round shootout on Sunday. The Cutthroats will finish the 2013-14 regular season on the road, stopping first in Prescott Valley, Arizona to take on the Arizona Sundogs on Wednesday, March 19, Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22.
