Denver Cutthroats Score One Goal to Fall to Allen Americans

Allen - The Denver Cutthroats and Allen Americans faced off for their final game in the 2013-14 regular season series on Saturday, March 29 in Allen, Texas. The Americans defeated the Central Hockey League's second seed Cutthroats 6-1.

Jamie Schaafsma put the Allen Americans on the board with the first goal of the night. Brian McMillin (Mike Berube, Spencer Asuchak) doubled the Americans lead 2-0 with a shot to the back of the Cutthroats net. Denver's J.P. Chabot (Garett Bembridge, Steve Kaunisto) cut the deficit by one with the Cutthroats lone goal of the game.

The Allen Americans scored three consecutive goals in the second period to close the door on the Denver Cutthroats. Anthony Maiani (Jonathan Lessard, McMillin) scored the Americans third goal early in the second frame. Jonathan Lessard (McMillin, Steven Tarasuk) increased Allen's lead with a shot past Denver's netminder Kent Patterson. With 22 seconds on the clock, Brian McMillin (Tyler Ludwig, Greger Hanson) gives the Americans a 5-1 lead over the Cutthroats.

Jonathan Lessard (Maiani, Schaafsma) scored the Allen Americans sixth and final goal of the night to close the game 6-1 over the Denver Cutthroats. This is the Cutthroats 17th regulation loss on the season with one game remaining in the 2013-14 regular season.

The Denver Cutthroats will finish the 2013-14 regular season in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Sunday, March 30 against the Tulsa Oilers. This will be the 66th game of the season for both teams, puck drops at 4:05 PM CST. For the latest information, visit DenverCutthroats.com.
